Charthawal is a small town in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. The city with a populance of 31,493, forms an important part of UP. There is lot to explore near Charthawal. Geography of Charthawal

The town is positioned at 29°33' in the North and 77°35' in the East. IT experiences mmoderate climate. Charthawal has a monsoon influenced humid subtropical climate characterised by much hot & humid summers and cooler winters. Summers last from early April to late June and are extremely hot. Monsoon arrives in late June and continues till the middle of September. Temperatures drop from late October with onset of dry winter season and remmains so till the middle of March. June is the warmest month of the year, while January in January, the average temperature is 12.5 °C. The rainfall here averages 929 mm. Highest precipitation falls in July.

Tourism in Charthawal

Charthawal has a number of tourist attractions to visit. The town has a myriad of temples and mosques. The following are some noteworthy places among them:

Sheikhzadgan Sharki- This is also famous as the “Amina Masjid” or “Jama Masjid”. This mosque was constructed about 360 years ago.

Sheikhzadgan Garvi- This ancient mosque is also popular as “Jama Masjid Tagayan”. Firoj Shah Tughlak, the great Mughal emperor built this famous mosque which dates back to 17th century. 

Sidhpeeth Temple- This popular temple is dedicated to Sidhpeeth Devi. It is located at the zenith of the town. This place is flocked by a large number of devotees during the festival of Navratri.

Thakurdwara- This is another popular temple of Charthawal. This pious shrine was erected in 13th century. Later in the year 1910 the temple went through repair work which was done by a Wazir who worked in the court of Shahjahan, the famous Mughal emperor. 

Bharo Temple- This is an ancient temple which is located in the Murdapati Charthawal. The place is visited by numerous people each Saturday. It is believed that all your wishes can be fulfilled if you offer your prayers at this devout temple in Asadh month.

Shiv Temple- There is a natural Shivling at this pious temple where numerous devotees of Lord Shiva flock in the month of Sawan.

Economy of Charthawal

The economy of the town depends on small scale plant of Sugar Cane which manufactures jaggery.  Sugar Refinery, Titawi Sugar Mill and Bajaj Hindustan Ltd. are the most popular names in the production of jaggery in Charthawal. The town is also very popular as a wholesale market for wood and wooden stuff. Charthawal boasts of above ten shops that are popular for wood wholesale. The people of the town who are into this business basically buy a variety of wood like Poplar wood, Sheesham wood, Eucalyptus, Teak wood and many more types of wood from the farmers and sell them off to the owners of big plywood industries.
